• Loan debt can cripple well-being levels of college graduates. Only 4% of those with average loan debt consider themselves thriving after graduation

In fact, the higher the reported loan debt, the lower the reported well-being score. Fair Ball Foundation can help eliminate loan debt, increasing the likelihood of stronger well-being and thriving scores among graduates

  • Athletes from low income households are 6x more likely to walk away from a sport due to cost

The average NCAA baseball /softball scholarship covers less than half the full cost of attendance. Fair Ball Foundation can help CLOSE THE GAP through scholarships, fellowships, ambassadorships, and internships

  • Only 36% of former NCAA student-athletes who identify as minorities are thriving financially after graduation

This is the only indicator of “thriving” where minority student-athletes trail both white former student-athletes and white non-athlete alumni

  • With nearly 25 million participants nationwide, baseball and softball have grown more than any other sport since 2013

Eliminating cost as an obstacle has been critical. Now it’s time to extend that support to the college level and create access to higher education for families who might not otherwise be able to afford it

  • Roughly 70% of players drafted by MLB come from 4-year colleges

Yet just 6% of NCAA DI baseball players are African American. Fair Ball Foundation aims to TRIPLE that number by 2030

At Fair Ball Foundation, we believe opportunity should be as widely distributed as talent, so we’re building a bridge to - and through - college with three key components.

  • Through scholarships, fellowships, internships, and ambassadorships, Fair Ball provides the funds necessary to CLOSE THE GAP between a partial aid packages and the full cost of attendance. We also partner with Game Plan to provide financial advising and education.

  • Mentoring is a key ingredient for success in college and developing leadership capacity. It has positive effects on belonging, goal setting and attainment, preparedness, and confidence. Utilizing our extensive networks across higher education and sport, Fair Ball provides access to mentoring for scholars, fellows, and interns.

  • We partner with Dale Carnegie, The Black Student-Athlete Summit, and AthLife, industry leaders in leadership and professional development, providing experiential learning opportunities, as well as networking and foundational career advising for scholars, fellows, and interns.
